Built From Family. Designed for Real Life.

Tatro Building & Remodeling is a family-run design + build company based in Northern Vermont, serving families throughout the surrounding areas.

Our work is shaped by real life inside real homes

We are a large, blended family—biological, adopted, and foster children—navigating busy schedules, evolving needs, and the kind of daily logistics that make function, flow, and thoughtful planning essential. We’ve lived in homes that supported our family well, and homes that didn’t. That lived experience changed how we see building.

To us, a home should do more than look good.
It should
support the people living in it.

That belief is the foundation of everything we do.

Why We Believe Homes Should Support Life

When a home works, life feels easier.
When it doesn’t, stress shows up everywhere.

We’ve experienced firsthand how cramped layouts, poor flow, and spaces that don’t adapt can make even simple routines exhausting—especially for a growing family with complex medical and accessibility needs. We know what it’s like to plan a day around equipment, appointments, and care, and how much a thoughtful space can lighten that load.

That’s why we don’t build from templates.
We build from understanding.

Every project begins with listening, planning, and making intentional decisions that support how families actually live—now and in the years ahead.

Our Core Values

The way we design, build, and work with families is guided by three core values:

Intentional
We plan carefully and make decisions with purpose. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is assumed.

Liveable
Homes should feel good to live in—not just look good in photos. Comfort, usability, and longevity matter.

Flow
Spaces should move naturally and support daily routines, not work against them.

These values guide how we approach every project, every conversation, and every home we’re trusted to work in

Meet the Family Behind the Work

David Tatro — Owner

David is the owner of Tatro Building & Remodeling and brings over 25 years of experience in construction and remodeling. He served in the U.S. Army directly out of high school, an experience that shaped his leadership, discipline, and commitment to responsibility, follow-through, and doing things the right way.

David is involved both in the field and in overseeing projects from start to finish, ensuring each home is planned carefully and built with intention. He believes that quality work begins long before construction starts—with listening, clear communication, and respect for both the home and the people who live in it. His steady, hands-on approach sets the tone for how projects are run: organized, thoughtful, and never rushed.

For David, building isn’t just about structures or timelines. It’s about creating homes that function well, hold up over time, and truly support the families living in them—because a well-built home makes everyday life easier.

Nicole Tatro — Operations, Client Experience & Design Support

Nicole supports the business through operations, marketing, and client communication, helping keep projects organized and running smoothly from start to finish. She is also studying design to support the planning phase of projects, with a strong focus on function, flow, and how families actually live in their homes.

While she is newer to the construction and design industry, Nicole brings a unique perspective shaped by her background as a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Board-Certified Lifestyle Medicine practitioner, with extensive training in integrative nutrition, women’s health, and whole-body wellness.

Her experience informs how the team thinks about movement through space, daily routines, and designing homes that support people—not just floor plans.
She brings a thoughtful, whole-person perspective to how homes are planned and experienced.

Owen Tatro — Exterior Services

Owen supports exterior services for Tatro Building & Remodeling, assisting with seasonal power washing and exterior care that helps homeowners maintain and refresh their homes.

He has played competitive hockey since childhood and attended Cardigan Mountain School before continuing on to Cushing Academy. Owen is currently in his final year of junior hockey, playing for the Utah Outliers in Park City, Utah.

Through his hockey journey, Owen has developed discipline, teamwork, and responsibility while building connections with people from around the world. He plans to pursue further education, with an interest in business, and brings that same focused mindset into his work.

Aidan Tatro — Field Support

Aidan supports the team in the field when home, assisting with projects and learning the trade hands-on. He approaches his work with a strong work ethic, curiosity, and a team-first mindset.

Aidan attended Eaglebrook School, where he served as captain of his hockey team, and later South Kent School, where he excelled in both hockey and lacrosse. He is currently playing junior hockey with the Utah Outliers in Park City, Utah, alongside his brother.

His experiences competing at a high level and connecting with people from different backgrounds have shaped his discipline, adaptability, and sense of responsibility. Aidan has one more year of junior hockey ahead before deciding on his next educational path.

Our Family Is Our Foundation

Our story includes foster care, adoption, and caring for children with rare genetic and complex medical needs including the baby we are in the process of adopting whose needs will be lifelong.

We’ve learned that homes must be more than beautiful.
They must be steady places in unsteady times.

These experiences have shaped how we view homes and the role they play in supporting families through unpredictable seasons.

We understand that homes need to adapt
They need to
support change
They need to
work today—and last

That perspective is woven into how we listen, how we plan, and how we build

What It’s Like to Work With Us

Families can expect clear communication, thoughtful planning, and respect for their home and daily life. Our process is calm, organized, and guided by care and intention—so every project feels manageable from start to finish.

We treat every home like it matters. Because it does.
